Hotel Real Estate Ownership InnVest’s primary business is that of owning hotel real estate. InnVest holds one of Canada’s largest hotel portfolio comprising 135 hotel properties, with almost 18,000 rooms, operated under internationally recognized franchise brands.
InnVest’s hotels are managed by four hotel management companies, Westmont Hospitality Management Canada Limited, Delta Hotels Limited, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Canada Co.
InnVest also partners with brands as a franchisee of brand licenses and reservation networks. InnVest’s portfolio is operated under 14 internationally recognized franchise brands.
Hotel Franchise Business InnVest also owns a 50% interest in Choice Hotels Canada Inc., one of the largest franchisors of hotels in Canada. The remaining 50% interest is owned by Choice Hotels International Inc, one of the largest hotel franchise companies in the world.
In 1993, Choice Hotels Canada Inc. was granted a 99-year license to franchise all Choice hotel brands in Canada, including Comfort Inn®, Quality Suites® and Quality Hotels®. CHC earns franchise revenue by charging hotel owners a monthly royalty fee based on a percentage of the revenue generated by the licenced properties and by selling franchises.
Office, Retail and Retirement Home Business
InnVest owns office and retail real estate as well as a retirement home. These real estate interests are adjacent to owned hotels and were acquired as part of certain hotel acquisitions.
